About this role
**About the role**
This is the Engineering Lead role.
The person hired will:
• Own technical architecture and engineering execution end-to-end
• Write production code daily — this is not a manager-of-managers role
• Lead and grow a team of 3–4 engineers in the next 6–12 months
• Work directly with the founders, with no layer between field observations and product decisions
• Engage directly with enterprise customers — translating their messy operational reality into shipped software
• Build production AI systems solving real enterprise complexity (not chatbot wrappers)
---
**Must-have requirements**
• 4–7 years of hands-on engineering experience
• At least 1–2 years of leading or technically mentoring engineers
• Strong on Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis (these are our actual stack — not nice-to-have)
• Shipped LLM-based systems in production — RAG, agents, prompt evaluation, or similar
• Track record of building 0-to-1: architecting systems from scratch, making hard technical bets, taking them to real customer adoption
• Comfortable using Claude or Cursor as primary development tools
• Can hold a meaningful conversation with a non-technical enterprise customer
• Comfortable with ambiguity — no spec, no roadmap, requirements changing every two weeks
• Bangalore-based, willing to work in-person most days
**Strong plus**
• Prior experience as a founding engineer or one of the first 5 engineers at a startup that grew
• Familiarity with LangGraph, vector DBs (Qdrant / Pinecone / pgvector), Celery, async Python at scale
• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture
• Has explained technical concepts to non-technical enterprise buyers (in a sales or solutioning context)
---
**Please do NOT send candidates who:**
• Are currently or most recently at a large company (1000+ headcount) with no prior startup exposure
• Have switched jobs more than twice in the last 18 months
• Are looking for a fully remote role
• Are looking for a stable, defined scope with a clear roadmap
• Are managers who have not written production code in the last 12 months
